DESCRIPTION

Keysbrook is located on the South West Highway between North Dandalup and Serpentine.

There is little more here than a general store, hall and a few scattered farm houses.

The area is known for horse breeding.

MZI Resources has been developing a leucoxene deposit at Keysbrook. Leucoxene is also known as Anatase or Rutile. It is fine granular alteration product made up of titanium minerals. It is expected that the mine at Keysbrook will be one of the largest of its type in the world. Australia is the world's largestr producer of leucoxene.

HISTORY

The name is believed to have come from Thomas Charles Key who owned land in the area. The land was inherited by the four Key sisters who sold up in 1912 to M.E. Tonkin.

The townsite was gazetted in 1916 but can trace its origins back to the establishment of the Perth to Bunbury railway in 1897.
