Located 27 kilometres south of Northcliffe, this small settlement is a popular holiday
retreat which thanks to its relative remoteness still retains a laid back easy going atmosphere.
There is a caravan park/campsite, holiday shacks and beaches and not much else.
It is the only place on the coast between Augusta and Walpole that
is accesible by sealed road.
For many years it was the favourite holiday retreat for residents of hinterland farming towns but in years gone by
it was far harder to reach than it is today.
Between Northcliffe and Windy Harbour lies The Blackwater, a swampy area that used to be very difficult to cross.
Most trips were done on horseback or even on foot.
There is no freehold land in the settlement and all properties are leasehold.
The caravan park / campsite has hot water showers, flushing toilets and provides firewood. There are 6 powered sites
and an excellent camp kitchen.
If you arrive at the campsite during wet weather, it is best to check the ground before driving on it as it becomes waterlogged and can be boggy.
There are a number of walks and 4wd tracks to explore or you can fish, swim, go boating or relax on the beach.
