Lake Towerrinning is a large inland lake located in the Shire of West Arthur, not far from the town of Darkan.
It is 240 kilometres from Perth and is easily accessible for pretty much every type of vehicle.
There is a day use area with good facilities including toilets, shelters, seats, tables BBQs and bins.
There is a boat ramp and jetties available and when water levels are high enough, the lake is a popular place to water ski.
There is also a privately owned campsite right next to the lake that has 14 lake edge powered sites and other un-powered sites available.
The campsite has toilets, showers and a camp kitchen. There is also a kiosk that offers some basic supplies such as bread, milk, ice etc.
Dogs are permitted but must be on a leash.
Non potable water is available but potable water is limited so guests are asked to arrived with their vehicle water tanks full.
There are different fees for water skiers and for ordinary campers but you will need to refer to the website for more information on that.
Water skiing is permitted between sunrise and sunset and is prohibited within 30 metres of the shore except in designated take off and landing zones.
Land clearing for farms in the area led to an increase in the salinity of the lake water but in 1989, work began to improve water quality. Fresh water creeks were diverted in to the lake and although brackish, the water still manages to maintain a population of long necked tottoise.
The area supports 14 species of frog, 43 species of reptile, 171 species of bird and 23 species of mammal.
