Edawa is a small freshwater lake the lies between Watheroo and Pithara in the
mid-west region of Western Australia.
It is accessed via good unsealed gravel roads and it is possible to stay overnight in a motorhome or caravan.
Places to park are very limited with space for perhaps 3-4 vehicles.
The ground is somewhat uneven so levelling blocks will be needed.
This lake is unusual these days as it is still freshwater and has a population of fish and frogs. These in turn attract
birds to the lake.
If you camp by the lake PLEASE dispose of any waste water well away from the lake shore. Frogs are very
susceptible to any kind of pollutant so it is vital not to introduce things like detergents, soaps etc. into the
lake.
While it may be possible to swim at the lake during times of high water level, please ensure that if you do, you are not wearing any kind of creams
such as sunscreen on your skin. This too will pollute the water in the lake.
The only facilities at the site are a couple of bins. You will need to be self-sufficient if you stay there.
Unfortunately there is virtually no other information available about the lake. We note that a J. Edawa was a resident of
Walebing so the lake's name may originate with that family. The name Edawa may have originated in India.
