DESCRIPTION

Greenbushes Pool is located just west of the town of Greenbushes.

It is a popular recreation area and at the time of writing this, free camping for up to 3 nights is allowed in designated areas near the pool.

Facilities include a playground, toilets, shelter, BBQ, seats and tables and a 500 metre boardwalk around the pool.

Pets are welcome at the pool as long as they are kept under control.

Fires, however, are not permitted at any time of the year. This includes charcoal fire pits style cookers.

Water from the pool was once used for tin sluicing and mining operations that took place from the late 1800s into the 20th century.

A 3.5 kilometre walk trail leads from to pool to Schwenke's Dam that is being developed as a wetland habitat for birds.

Depending on weather conditions you might hear some noise from the nearby mine site but most of the time it is peaceful and quiet. No noise is allowed from campers (or visitors) after 9pm.

If there are no available spots to camp at the pool, there are alternative sites nearby at the Greenbushes sporting complex.

The small town of Greenbushes is worth exploring and a good place to start is at the local discovery centre.

A heritage walk leads you through town to various sites of interest, most of which are sign posted and give you information about current and former buildings.
