Duggan Dam is located about 43 kilometres north east of Dumbleyung along the Dumbleyung to
Lake Grace road.
It is located on the south side of the road and is accessed by a good unsealed road.
There is turning room at the end of the track via a loop around water tanks.
There are no facilities at the site so please take out anything you brought in with you. Overnight camping is currently allowed
but remember this is a recreation site for locals so please leave room for them to access the dam.
In 2021 the dam was emptied and completely cleaned out to remove a large accumulation of mud.
The dam was built over a hundred years ago to supply water to steam trains. Duggan siding was established in 1916 and closed in 1975.
Nearby Tarin Rock is used as a catchment area for the dam and this makes an interesting place to walk in wildflower season.
The dam was originally built by 123 men using shovels and wheelbarrows.
An old water tower is located along the rail line a little to the south west of the dam.
There seems to be some confusion about the spelling of the name of this location. On Wikicamps and some other sources it is
listed as 'DUGGIN' but from other sources online we think it should be spelled 'DUGGAN'.
