COOLUP

DESCRIPTION

 

Settlement in the area dates from 1886 and the townsite was gazetted in 1899. The name originates with the Aboriginal language and is thought to mean, 'Place of the wild turkey'.

Coolup is located on the South Western Highway between Pinjarra and Waroona.

In 2016 there were reports in the press of a military museum starting up in Coolup but since then there has not been any further information. We will try to find out what the current situation is as soon as possible.

Coolup is home to the Murray Region Equestrian Centre.
