BULLARING

DESCRIPTION

 

Bullaring sits on the road between Corrigin and Yealering.

Once there was a general store here but sometime between 2008 and 2010 it either burned down or was removed. We don't know exactly what happened but we do know it was there and now it isn't.

Today there is little here to attract tourists. It is simply another tiny settlement that has served as a service centre for local wheat growers.

The pictures of the general store were taken in 2008 when the store was for sale. Today nothing remains of the store but a vacant block.

 

HISTORY

 

The town was originally a siding between Corrigin and Yealering. It was gazetted in 1914.

Bullaring was the Aboriginal name for a nearby spring but the meaning of the word is unknown.

Bullaring and many other small towns sit on tier 3 rail lines. These lines are all expected to close due to the increasing use of road haulage and the deteriorating state of the train lines.
