DESCRIPTION
This town, which lies between Corrigin and Bruce Rock was originally called Kerkenin in 1914. Due to confusion with the name of another town (Kukerin) the name was changed to Ardath in 1915.
There are two possible origins for the name. The first comes from a novel by Marie Corelli, "Ardath, the Story of a Dead past." and the other from a prophet in the second book of the Apocrypha called Edras.
Even though it might seem like an unlikely location, Ardath has an 18 hole par 72 golf course.
As this town is located in the central wheat belt there are no prizes for guessing what the local economy mostly consists of.
The town has had bulk wheat handling facilities since 1940.
